Not trying to sneak-attack any of you on this forum, but you're all obviously in love with food, so I thought you'd be the best people to ask:

Where would you advertise your chef tour business?

My partner and I launched a chef tour business a few months ago and are just getting to a point where we can advertise. We don't have a huge budget, so we want crazy-bang for that buck.

Where do most of you read about new restaurants (besides this forum, of course)? Where do your food-loving friends go?

For a little more info about what we do exactly, see here:

I thank each of you in advance for your input.

    WHERE magazine.
Concierge's of Chicago has a Trade Group Association.
"schmear" heavily ( if you don't know what this means- ask any of your Jewish friends ;-P ) there- and it will be rewarded.
Try an event with Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (where you can rent a "table" to sell your Tours)

Locally- I'd go the PR route.
    Cheaper.
Writers are always looking for material to write about.

    Good Luck!

I would advertise to the chefs, suppliers, foodies and others in the food industry. I would think they would make the time to do this and they certainly have the money, and can write it off.

Consider this. Chicago is home to the best regional food industry trade magazine in the Country, called Food Industry News. It reaches all levels of the local industry with it's print and online reach. It's a monthly magazine founded in 1982. www.foodindustrynews.com.
