    Hi all,

Just wanted to say 'hi' and introduce you to Yumbly (http://yumbly.com), where you can find restaurants by searching for food you like, and view their full menus online.

Over 2,300 Chicago-area restaurants (yes, including the 'burbs!) are in already and we add more all the time.

    ALSO!

We're doing a piece for National Hamburger Day on July 28th and we're taking votes on peoples' favorite burger places in the Chicago area. Feel free to visit http://www.facebook.com/Yumbly to cast your vote, or tweet your favorite burger place to @YumblyChicago

And, of course, if we're missing a restaurant you like, please let us know here...I'll check this thread on a regular basis and make sure we add them to our "add list".

Thanks and enjoy the heat! (blech)

How is this different from Menupages? Just curious.

These things are tough to do. I just checked for my neighborhood, and there were many restaurants left out (including some LTH favorites), a few that have closed, and a few obviously mis-classified. Its better than some I've seen, but I don't feel like I can rely on it.

@Darren72 - It'll be a lot more comprehensive. If you look at some of the restaurant pages, like that for West Town Tavern as an example (http://yumbly.com/westtown) you'll see that there's much more than just a listing & menus. They've got their wine list (searchable!), Events, News, Photos, Bios and more. We want the listings to give people a much better feel for the overall experience for a given restaurant.

Also, I don't think MenuPages goes outside the city of Chicago itself.

We have some nice features too that, hopefully, will make it easier to use in certain circumstances. For instance, if you register and save restaurants to your favorites list, you can give your Yumbly nickname to a friend, and if they enter it into the Member Search field on any page, it'll show them your favorites list. They don't have to be registered themselves to do this, so it's fast & easy.

Since restaurants can add themselves and update their content whenever they like, our goal is to make it like the IMDb of the restaurant world.

@nr706 - If you wanna list off a few of these (missing, closed, misclassified) we'll happily fix those issues. One of our challenges is keeping up with some of those changes (especially closings) if the restaurants don't tell us, but we want it to be as accurate as possible obviously, so any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Again, that's my problem with sites like yours. It seems as though you're asking us to do your work, to vet what you list on your site as accurate. I understand it's a big undertaking to do it right, but I'd like a site I can trust, not one that I'm being asked to fix.

@nr706 Haha, definitely not asking visitors to do the work involved in adding restaurant data to the site. I just figured I'd ask which restaurants you were referring to since you'd taken a look and commented as you did.

    Have a great weekend!
