I am opening a catering kitchen next to my restaurant in Rogers Park. It's about 1000 sq ft. with a full basement. It will be fully equipped with all of the standard commercial kitchen equipment you need to run any operation. It will also house my smoker, and will be used by me for larger catering jobs and festival prep.
I am not looking to make this into a large-scale shared kitchen space, I am simply opening up the opportunity to 1, or possibly 2, small catering/food truck operations. The space will have my smoker in it, so cupcake companies and bakers may be turned off by that.
Rather than paying $20-$30 /hour to rent space in one of the co-op kitchens, you would essentially have this kitchen available most of the time. We won't be using the kitchen for most of our day-to-day cooking, as we use our restaurant kitchen for that. I don't have an exact cost in mind, I am looking to openly discuss the opportunity with interested parties.
I am paying for the build out, signing the lease, lining up waste services, etc. I will handle the licensing issues, etc. This would basically be just as easy for you to use as a co-op, without the restrictive and expensive hourly requirements. You could also have Sysco, MT Dairy, or any of the other broad-liners deliver here - which I know is a challenge at the shared spaces.
The space is in a nice area of West Rogers Park, on Western Avenue.
