I am a board member for North Side Housing and Supportive Services, a not-for-profit that serves Chicago's homeless community on the north side. We just took over operational control for an Interim Housing program yesterday (overnight shelter plus other services) at the People's Church in Uptown. The kitchen currently does not have a dishwasher and the previous meals program was using disposable plates/utensils for meals.
We would like to acquire a used commercial dishwasher to install in the kitchen and could used some advice in the best way to obtain one (we do have some funds for renovation purposes but are looking for the most cost-effective solution for the dishwasher). I have studied hi- and lo- temp options, but am not sure what is most appropriate for our case. I have found a few options for sale on craigslist and various restaurant liquidation/reconditioning business, but would like to get a little more background before approaching anyone. The program will serve between 50-100 people three meals a day.
Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you.
