Not a huge fan of that radio genre, but catch his nice reminiscence in today's Trib.

And so deep is his love for off-the-beaten-path authentic foodstuffs that his take on Lao Sze Chuan was "best egg roll in Chinatown", and he never orders Chinese food without MSG, because then it's just "watery gravy and overcooked vegetables"!

Anxious to hear what else he has to contribute!

    (sorry)

    Hi,

I tried the eggroll based entirely on his comments. Nothing worth talking about and certainly not a stellar example.

Well, I thought his fish taco reminiscences showed a nice appreciation for discovering fresh, simple, local flavors. I was entirely unaware of his other published food writing. Dommage.

Very true. It's just that having read about some of his other food commentary, I view it through a somewhat different prism :-)
