"Those places are pungent. Everywhere for two square blocks smells like onions," Berg says. "That's a concern for neighbors and our place. The smell of onions is not pleasant for the theater-going experience."

    Hi,

Thanks for the link. I heard discussion of this on the radio the other day. I had meant to do a search to understand the location, because I was worried it was Jim's and Maxwell Express on the Dan Ryan frontage road around Roosevelt and Halsted. Those two businesses were obligated to get an air scrubber to remove most of the odor. I suspect these Pilsen neighbors want the very same thing, since these establishments are close enough for the neighbors to exchange information. It is also another costly hurdle for anyone wanting to establish a business.

Honey One also had to install an air scrubber to quiet the neighbors and regulatory agencies.

    Regards,

It sounds to me like they are more worried about traffic and a business that will bring noise to the neighborhood late at night. Also, there's the implication that sausage-stand customers are low-class rowdies not fit for this gentrifying neighborhood.

I was amused to see that one of the objectors is himself a late-night patron of the current location. Typical NIMBY.

I wish they'd open one in my neighborhood.
