    I'm puzzled by the way this boiled egg turned out, as I've never seen anything like this. Ok, so it's not a two-headed frog. Someone, please indulge my whim-what could have happened here?

    the air pocket that develops in an egg may have pushed through the membrane that surrounds the yolk and settled there while it cooked. but knowing that takes the fun out if it, doesn't it?

    I'd rather hear tales of aliens invading our chicken factories and escaping ala Bodysnatchers when you broke open the egg, but then I'd get in more trouble around here :roll:

    I don't know what happened, but I hope you filled that hole with something delicious before eating the egg!

    Sorry to be so earnest, but, actually, there was quite enough fun in this anamolous egg to actually make me think twice about eating it. But eat it I did, with no apparent ill effects.

    I'm wondering how the air pocket could create such an apparently spherical shape even if the membrane was breached.

    It's the kind of thing to keep a person awake at night!
