Somebody down on the Peninsula decided to have a mongo foodie-fest, inviting the likes of Katz', Zingerman's, Junior's, etc. to provide eats at a huge event. It all went pear-shaped from the git-go. Man, I'm glad I'm not among the 8K folks who paid $500 special for this!!

We did it for $30 a pop, with leftovers for everyone, custom-made edible menus from a molecular gastronomy temple, and celebrities including one Gary Wiviott. Silly SF.

    Just what I was thinking.
Next time they should hire LTHers to organize their event :D

I finally read the linked article. Besides being completely unorganized, they didn't even include one eatery from Chicago. Bad execution on both counts.

Imagine my surprise that an Ed Levine-sponsored event omitted Chicago deep dish.

You know, I was going to make a comment about his culinary myopia, too but then figured why kick a guy when he's down. :D

Yinz ever been to Mountain View? There's waaay less 'there' there than even Oakland, just to name someplace. Those pore folks would do ANYthing for some excitement. Probably why so many signed up for the event. But of course they (for whatever reason) think themselves the New Omphalos of the World, the contradiction between their attitudes going unnoticed. Mayhap the whole thing was a shuck?

I'da rather been at the LTH affair, regarding G Wiv (who maybe really IS the new omphalos, eh?) talking about the Five Stages Toward Nirvana.

I can't find a link to the story, but I remember reading that they invited Hot Doug and he declined, due to logistical concerns.
