Does anyone know of a fortune cookie factory, perhaps in Chinatown, that gives tours? Some friends of mine are interested in this.

I have called Golden Dragon, but they do not give tours. At least that is the impression that I got from the woman on the phone. It was a bit difficult to communicate.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    I would contact:

    Chinese-American Museum
    238 W 23rd St
    Chicago, IL 60616-1904
    (312) 949-1000
    www.ccamuseum.org

Or the Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce.

Sometimes there are language barriers. More often there are legal barriers. Plus your interest in taking a tour may not be in their best interests. It's worth a shot to ask. When you have the answer, I hope you will advise here the information.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

FYI, here is the reply that I got from the Chinese-American museum. Looks like I am out of luck.

"Thanks for contacting our museum. All the fortune cookie factories in the area are small operations and they generally cannot faciliate public tours. We organized similar tours in the past. Unfortuately due to the fire last year, we have suspended all our public tours until the museum is re-open again later this year."

    Hi,

I would suggest it is an opportunity postponed.

They are hoping to reopen their museum on the same date it burned last year, which is sometime in September. On the events board, they are sponsoring a program on Americanized Chinese on August 16th. I plan to attend. I will ask them about the fortune cookie tour as well. I am pretty good at getting them attendees. :D
