Well, not really met (as in, much as I love you all, I actually have met ccrush, Cynthia, GAF and GWiv, and probably some of you that I eat and converse with all the time but whose books I've stupidly forgotten - but this post isn't about you) (damn, you'd think with all these smart author friends some of it would have rubbed off, huh?)

What I mean is that several blogs that I follow in one way or another are now coming out as books. First, there is Cake Wrecks, my personal day-brightener. Never fails, when I'm laughing hysterically over the computer - someone in the family will look at me hopelessly and say "Cake Wrecks?" and I'll nod helplessly. Not only is it a lovely, wrecky, coffee-table book, but the book tour will be stopping in Skokie next week (sushi and deformed cake, anyone?)

From that blog, I learned that another blog I love, but haven't visited for a while for no good reason, is also headed towards your local bookshelf at the end of October. Pioneer Woman, self-avowed channel of Ethel Merman and Lucille Ball, wife of the Marlboro Man (maybe he's really Silas Jayne?) and creator of the Marlboro Man's Favorite Sandwich has converted her blog into a cookbook, available for pre-order on Amazon.

So, congratulations, ladies! I hail you from the other side of the internets! May, like Flat Stanley, your life become richer when it's squashed between pages!

I'm a big fan of Ideas in Food and a while ago they self-published a book of their food photography. I wanted to buy it, but it was spendy and I put it off, now it's no longer in print and only available as a PDF, which is slightly less convenient for keeping on my coffee table or bookshelf. It looks like they just signed a deal to have another book published, which I'll most certainly buy this time.

    Dan,

This is inspirational to me. Publishing a book of my food photography has been a long term project for me. At least there's a precident out there for my project.

Clotilde Dusoulier of Chocolate & Zucchini has two books out. The first is more focused on recipes and the second is basically a culinary travel guide to Paris.

Molly Wizenberg of Orangette has a book out that combines memoir and cookbok.

I enjoy both blogs quite a bit, but I haven't managed to pick up the books yet.
