Italian circa '80's near west burbs question

Can someone jog my memory of childhood. I have vague recollection of going to possibly Salerno's(?) in the Berwyn or Cicero area circa early to mid eighties. All I know is that it was the best chicken vesuvio I've every had. It was a smaller room and definitely old school Italian. It seemed like everyone in there knew each other or was family. Was it Salerno's or something else? Was there an older location?

Could it have been Al's Restaurant? For old school red sauce Italian (including the famous "salad gondola") I highly recommend Al's on Cermak in Cicero. It's a real throwback along the lines of Sabatino's, but without the tuxedoed Matre'd and musicians.

Thank you for the suggestions Dad worked there in that era when it was primarily a eastern european neighborhood. He may not remember the restaurant names. There was also place called Smorgasbord buffet or something like that. We also used to go to Candelight dinner theater frequently. Good eating all around. I will research it a bit more on both and post back if I get more data.
