A favorite of mine as well, and one thread I'm sad to see die off. Some threads have a defined lifespan (Pizza Boy, or even a Plotnicki thread), but Ohio House is one I wished would go on for forever.

Chinese Food Question is one of my favorites, if only because when the poster posed her vague question about a certain style of Chinese food that she ate many years ago, I thought to myself, nobody's gonna know the answer to that. Yet, two people -- ekreider and, of course, Rene G (who officially knows everything), popped up in relatively short order to provide the answer, which included the history of Chinese food in the suburbs, migration patterns of Taiwanese academia to Chicago in the 1960s and 1970s, the Kuomintang, Mandarin cuisine, and the significance of Peter Lo and restaurants with the name "Dragon" in their names.

    Hi,

I'm pleased the blind spot on Northwest Indiana (NWI) is not as big as it once was. When LTH first came to be, many NWI locations were deposited in Beyond Chicagoland Board. I plead guilty on this, too. Yet Whiting and Hammond, IN are as close to Chicago as Oak Park and Evanston.

It pleases me to no end when a new NWI resident adds to the body of information. I am just as thrilled when a Chicago resident goes to check it out.

Thanks for highlighting this as a classic.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Though not epic in length, one thread I really love -- and one I think about frequently -- is David Hammond's 18-Year-Old Boy Food.

I got hooked on PizzaBoy, and was FIRMLY directed to Carne en su Jugo. But it's Bridgestone's amazing prep that keeps me coming back for more.

I am fond of this thread, from the light-hearted first weeks of LTHForum:

(Wow. Almost exactly six years ago!)

And there are many threads with a posting date of April 1...

Yes, like this one, which by page 3 turns into a meta-level struggle between "elitism" and "reverse snobbery."

Thank you so much for alerting me to the Pizza Boy thread. I'm enthralled after reading 4 pages and look forward to finishing the other 14 tonight.

Ronnie, could you give us a current quote from The Man himself, reflecting back on his experience?

He misses eating pizza everyday so much, hardly a week goes by when he doesn't beg me to bet him that he can't do it again. Of course, I know better now but we've discussed some variations, which might make another run interesting enough to document. If it happens, I'll be sure to post.

Last week, one of our co-workers (who was working from home in the morning) offered to bring Pequod's in for lunch, since she lives nearby. Pizza Boy was so excited, he literally talked about it for days leading up to it . . . what toppings he was going to order, how many pizzas we should get, etc. I think the bliss of anticipation fueled his entire week. :D

p.s. no quote available because he's out of town at the moment.
