I talked to him before a show in the 90's--something I never do--and he was just the nicest person ever. I asked him to play "Girlfriend" and he talked to me about why he likes to play things that are meaningful to him now (not that song), and I said I understood, and then he played it anyway. He also talked on stage to some guys that were heckling him about how people don't understand that acoustic music is rock 'n' roll, too.
