Just realized I posted the same lame Rob Schneider story to this thread a while back, with almost the exact same verbiage. Bonehead. Didn't want to just delete the earlier reply since it included some fun musical celeb sightings. Anyway, sorry for the redundancy.

I talked to him before a show in the 90's--something I never do--and he was just the nicest person ever. I asked him to play "Girlfriend" and he talked to me about why he likes to play things that are meaningful to him now (not that song), and I said I understood, and then he played it anyway. He also talked on stage to some guys that were heckling him about how people don't understand that acoustic music is rock 'n' roll, too. What a great guy.

I had dinner last night at RL and both Rahm and Oprah were there (dining separately). After 22 years in Chicago, it was my first Oprah sighting.

Let's see- I was invited to the Berghoff to dine with Studs Terkel like 7 years ago as part of a literary event. Saw Kup (Irv Kupcinet) at Keefers shortly before he passed away. Was invited to a private dinner at someone's home (literary person again) and Billy Corgan showed up. He was in his "writing poetry" phase, so was hob-nobbing with writerly types. And I dated Maynard from the band Tool when I was in high school. Now he runs a winery! He was at Whole Foods pimping his stuff a few years ago... oh yeah, also have seen Rick Bayless shopping at WF.

Just shook Rahm Emanuel's hand at the Family Fruit Market on Cicero. He was really working the store. Oddly enough, it was my second grocery store Rahm encounter. Several years ago I saw him chatting up the crowds at the Jewel on Foster/Pulaski.

Alexei Ramirez of the White Sox regularly hangs out at Cafeteria de Pancho & even helps out around the place. He looks like a small guy on the field, but approximates the size of a Redwood in person.

Nope--my friend sent me a pic of them together on Saturday so it's been independently verified :P

And in case you want to check it out for yourself , I just saw a post that Rod's there again now...he must like the place. Maybe he'll hit Jibek Jolu for a bite to eat...

I believe Rod is a big Celtic fan and Celtic played a 9:00 a.m. game on Saturday, so it makes sense. Plus, good luck finding an SPL game on TV anywhere but a bar even if you have access to the top secret super VIP package at the hotel that Rod presumably does.

I was with my family at Ron of Japan and Willie Gault was there for some promotion, and then he was asked to choose a table to sit at for dinner. It was our table or the one next to ours. He took one look at us and sat down at the other table. I guess we looked too eager.
