Restaurateurs plan new eatery, revamp of Little Italy site

Two veteran restaurateurs known for their high-end hamburgers want to buy and overhaul a celebrated but shuttered Little Italy eatery, a project that would add momentum to the Taylor Street restaurant row.

David Morton and Michael Kornick, who operate DMK Burger Bar outlets in Chicago's Lake View neighborhood and in west suburban Lombard, plan to open a new restaurant at 1352 W. Taylor St., according to plans they filed with the city, where for decades the Gennaro family ran a namesake Italian bistro known for its hearty fare.
