The Sophie Coe Prize in Food History - 2013

The Sophie Coe Prize is the longest-running and most generous prize for writing in
food history in the English language. First awarded in 1995, the prize was founded
in memory of Sophie Coe, the eminent food historian who died in 1994.

In 2013 there will be a single prize of £1,500. The winner will be chosen by an
anonymous panel of distinguished judges and awarded to the author of an original,
informative article or essay on some aspect of food history that embodies new
research or provides new insights. Published and unpublished work may be
submitted. If the former, it must have been published within the last 12 months of
the submission deadline. If the latter, it must be in immediately publishable form.

The submission deadline this year is 1st May 2013. Please consult the detailed
    Conditions of Entry at http://sophiecoeprize.wordpress.com

All entries and queries should be addressed to the Chair of the Sophie Coe Memorial
    Fund as follows:
Jane Levi, 101 Bankside Lofts, 65 Hopton Street, London SE1 9JL, UK.
    Telephone: +44 7768 891021
    Email: jane@jlevi.org

Please note Antonius won a Sophie Coe Prize a few years ago.

Continued congratulations to the remarkable Tony.

I may not be reading carefully enough, but I cannot figure out what this year's theme is. Or is there one...

    Hi,

While the winner is announced at the Oxford Symposium, the submission does not have to relate to the topic at the symposium.

    b. Content
Food history, food and cookery are large subject areas and the panel of judges does not wish to rule out or focus particular attention on any of them. All aspects qualify.

    Regards,
