    HI,

Only once did I get a furious response from a chef who cited our practice of taking pictures as stealing his great idea.

Once at a bakery, where I order one-of many pastries did the owner threaten not to sell it to me. She had this idea I was stealing her ideas, too.

In both cases, these people were the same nationality. While it may be coincidence, I had a feeling they were friends who felt this was their war to win. I never stepped foot in either enterprise again.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

That reminds me of the time back in the early days of LTHForum when we did the Short Notice-a-thon and G Wiv was threatened with a chef's knife for attempting to take pictures of the al pastor trompo at Zacataco's. I guess it was an intellectual trompo. Here's a link to the thread, but unfortunately Mike G's excellent courtroom sketch-artist depiction of the event has been lost to the ages. viewtopic.php?p=25606#p25606

Erik Schat's Bakery in Bishop, CA has large signs banning cameras also.

Ordinarily, I don't take food pictures but I am so tempted when confronted with that sign.

In this bakery, I wasn't taking pictures. I was buying one-of-many to sample. She confronted me about my choices wanting to know what I planned to do with them and who they were for.

I'm almost sorry I paid and took those pastries with me. They were delicious, though tainted by my interaction with this bakery's owner.

    Regards,

I'm sorry you paid for them as well. What horrible service.
