You can only imagine the vibe at the Bridgeport Bakery this morning at 7AM on the day the Sox play the first of hopefully only four games...



In an amazing feat of timing, a batch of buns came out as I walked in...



"Gimme a half dozen" I say, effortlessly slipping into an accent I've spent years trying to eradicate.

What are those buns stuffed with?

I only ask, because if they are bacon, I never saw them in a crescent or elongated bun form.

I have only gotten then in round bun format at both Bobaks and Racine Bakery, both on Archer

Those two games were nothing short of breathtaking! Just amazing.....I *love* being a baseball fan and am proud of what the team has accomplished this year. This is an AWESOME World Series!!

I had given game 3 to Houston when the series started. Not doubting the abilities of our beloved White Sox but giving credit to a strong Houston team and a substantial nod to Oswalt.

Could NOT stay awake through the marathon and was pleasantly surprised to hear that the South Siders pulled it off. These guys are FUN!!!

The Sox really played great in the playoffs. It's amazing how as a team, they perform so much better than their parts. I mean Jermaine freakin' Dye...

I hear ya!!! Moises had a higher wall to contend with than Juan. The fans didn't get out of the way of the ball; they got out of the way of Juan....he was hauling @ss. I'd move too with that much mass headed my way! Don't forget, Konerko had an Alou moment in game 3. It happens to everyone.

Cubbies will have their year.....they will. And when they do, I, as a Sox fan, will wish them all the best. Unless, of course, they happen to play against the Sox.

Crede deserved MVP IMHO. Dye got it on stats; Crede contributed on all counts. Heck he was responsible for the rallies! What a great team effort through out the season. Truly amazing team.

I couldn't agree more. I was very surprised when they handed the yellow Chevy to Dye instead of Crede.

A lot of traditions came from a time long before most pro athletes were millionaires after their first contract.

For example, in the old days, players retired when their skills deteriorated significantly below their peak. Now we are subjected to watching Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, and Greg Maddux long past their prime.

Maybe baseball ought to have a senior's league like golf. That way you could eliminate the DH.

So was Corey MacPherson, I gather, considering he asked Podsednik (I think) what he thought of Crede getting the MVP award. He corrected himself a moment later. (And I agree. Aside from his offense, Crede stopped with amazing speed and grace what would have been some very important hits for Houston.)

I have to admit, as much as I liked the idea, that the Senior Professional Baseball Association was as painful for fans to watch as I suspect it was for players to play.

It was a tough call. There were a number of Sox that could have been MVP and frankly (they never do it) naming a few Co-MVP's would really have been fitting for the way this Sox team played. Crede, Dye, the entire pitching staff, Konerko - how do you make that call?

Typically they look at the key moment or the down the stretch contributions and Dye was certainly right there. Of course there's no way that Dye is in that position if Crede didn't imitate Brooks Robinson in the early games. It's just the way it is. Real baseball people know, though, that Crede was essential to the Series win.

There's probably 6,000 people within view outside my building at LaSalle and Wacker where the parade ends and the rally starts.

People were lining up at 7am this morning.
