Since the first World's Fair in London in 1851, World Expos have been regarded as the Olympic Games of economics, science, technology and cross-culture dialogue, providing a global stage for individual countries to publicize and display their crowning achievements and innovations and to share ideas.
Expo Milano 2015 will provide a global stage for the proposition that everyone on the planet should have access to healthy, safe and sufficient food. American Food 2.0, the USA Pavilion, is built on the idea that food is a universal language that the future of food will be rooted in the values of the past and married with the technological innovations and creative problem-solving of the future. Designed by award-winning Biber Architects, the Pavilion pays homage to our rich agricultural history with an open design and a vertical harvestable farm. How do you design a space that will accommodate 20-30 million visitors from around the world in a matter of months?
Location: Orozco Room, Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall
