Iliana Regan and Philip Tadros have put up a Kickstarter to fund Bunny, their new pierogi/bakery site, and Wonder POP, to do pop-up events.

One of the Kickstarter rewards is a dinner for 12 for any of their themes, for $1000.
I don't have a lot of friends outside of LTH that are up for that level of dining, even though it's a bargain compared to a prime-time Elizabeth night (and even fewer that I'd spend that much moola on myself).

So is anyone up for pooling our funds for one of the $1000 premiums?

There are certainly cheaper premiums, including $5 for 2 donuts, $10 for a quart of mushroom tea, etc.

We're potentially interested! When you say "any of the themes" is the idea that the dinner is Elizabeth-type or Bunny-type?

Read the kickstarter: Wonder Pop is for short term or event dining. I'd expect close to Elizabeth than Bunny.

i was curious about the new bunny bakery, until i saw that they are carrying grizzly burgers. i already know that elizabeth sometimes serves bear jerky, so i wont be eating there either. as a lover of bears (LIVING BEARS), i won't be supporting regan's businesses. i'm not so jaded that i need to eat a majestic wild animal that isn't raised for consumption. i'd have thought she's getting enough attention, business and press without needing to add the novelty of having bear meat on her menu....
(i expect replies that dont agree with my comments: you're entitled to eat what you want. but you can be sure i don't want to hear about it.)

I saw The Revenant last weekend. After seen that, I have no such qualms about eating bears.

hi steve: i'm sure that movie will fire up alot of people's blood... but bears, you must realize, get bad press- everybody loves to be scared: bears, sharks, etc. are the boogeymen. i'm not going to give you a speech about how bears only fight when they have to....but, dont believe everything you see in the movies is always good advice!!!!

There is an admittedly small market for bears raised for consumption, but farms raising bears for consumption do exist. I got some black bear meat for the BBLT (Black Bear, Lettuce and Tomato) sandwiches that I brought to the LTH picnic a few years ago.

Joan, you too are totally entitled to your opinion, but I don't think a food message board is a good place to share it if you don't want to hear people respond to you.

I'm undecided on whether I want to eat bear meat.

You are also entitled to eat what you want and I certainly have no desire to convince you to eat or not eat anything, but simply as an ethical proposition this seems exactly backwards to me. Animals that are raised for consumption have -- by and large -- vastly more miserable lives than animals that live in the wild.

oy, i'm glad to hear this, but based on the fact that regan has made bear jerky from a bear leg for elizabeth, i reasonably assumed it was a bear burger. i did look at the menu online and it didnt say otherwise. thanks.

Tried a loaf of oat porridge bread from Bunny today. It's as good as Cellar Door bread, quite a feat. Pricey at $10 a loaf.

Bear meat is gamey and lean (not ideal burger characteristics) and not cheap, and grizzly bears are a threatened species. I'd say it was a decidedly unreasonable assumption that this chef would sell something as gimmicky as a bear burger at all, let alone one for $10.

Very much looking forward to checking this place out and redeeming my kickstarter contribution for a quart of the sensational mushroom tea!

    From the Eater article:
"There's a daily rotating Dutch oven item as well as the Grizzly Burger, named after Regan's late puppy. This fine-looking burger is made with a short-rib patty."
Now, sure, I suppose it's possible that it's a short-rib of Grizzly but that hardly seems likely now, does it?
