My beautiful 1950s Crown gas range is in need of some TLC and I don't have a clue where to look for someone who can repair it. The thermostat probably needs refurbishing, the door springs need replacing and the door doesn't close quite right. I love this old workhorse and until recently it was very reliable. I don't want a new one...

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

I have tried the internet and keep getting people in California...I'd rather find a local repairman if possilbe.

    Many, many thanks,

    Diannie

I hope these guys can help you. We've used them a couple times when our gas dryer required service. If they can't fix it, maybe they can refer you somewhere.....

I have their business card in front of me but there's no address listed. I'm including everything on the card below:

    D&B Appliance Service Professionals
    An Appliance Authority
    773-244-9874
    630-458-9755 (we've called this number)
    847-330-0670

    All Makes - Residential - Gas/Electric Ranges - Dishwashers - Microwaves - Washers/Dryers - Disposals - Refrigerators

The guy that's worked on our dryer was Dean Bolek. He's a really nice guy and very efficient. He won't remember us from Adam since we have only required two service calls in 14 years of ownership and there were spaced far apart!

Just a quick update on my old range. I called D & B Appliance Service repair based on dees_1's advice. They were great. The repair man was well versed old Crown ranges (mine dates to the mid-40s it turns out). He replaced things and cleaned things and greased things so it is working perfectly again.

They fixed it just in time for me to get a birthday cake baked before the big heat wave of this past weekend.

    Thank for the suggestions!

Great news! I really hate to see the classics get sent to the bone yard. I'm really glad D&B came through for you! It's been a few years since we required their services but we have been pleased with their work!

As Jacques Pepin would say....."Happy Cooking"
