I am looking for suggestions for a great Chicago location for a cocktail party. Restaurants, bars, whatever. I just want delicious appetizers and good drinks for about 100-150 people. Ideally we would like to have a DJ or a band, but it's not necessary.

    Any suggestions?

There is another topic kind of along this lines. Peruse this to get some ideas.

The park district has some really beautiful spaces for rent. The only problem is that if you serve food, you have to use an approved caterer. If you serve alcohol, you need drunk insurance.

Or hire a bartender who comes with this insurance and make sure they provide you a copy of the rider.

Can't do that with the city locales. The caterer itself must have a liquor license unless the event is for a non-profit that gets a event license.
