Can anyone recommend a place on the north side to get my Cuisinart blender repaired? I had one small plastic part crack (the gear kind of thing on the base that turns the gear kind of thing on the bottom of the blender container) and it'd be a shame to toss the whole machine for this one little part.
Unfortunately, it's too old to be under warranty. I think I might even be able to fix it myself with a new part, but my search for parts on the internet only came up with things like lids, blades, containers, etc.

Sadly, this was one of the sites I visited that sells what I would characterize as "accessories" rather than "parts". Cuisinart clearly doesn't want consumers to fix the kind of problem I have.

If the part is what I think your talking about you might want to check a restaurant supply house. When I was managing in the restaurant business we would have to change the gears on the blender base units about once a year. the trick is that you have to be able to hold the screw while you remove and replace the gear.

If it’s a Cuisinart blender clutch driver you’re seeking, MarBeck is the place for you:

I had the plastic gear driver on mine break about 3 months ago. I called Cuisenart (sp?) and paid about $3 for the new part. They sent instructions on how to fix it with the part. In about 5 minutes, I had the part replaced and was back in business. A lot better than paying $30-$40 to have someone else fix it.

Rene G--thanks for the link, this looks like the part I need.

Thanks, KevinT--I should have just called them (and I will). My manual and their website were not nearly as helpful and forthcoming as your experience sounds, so I wasn't feeling optimistic about this option.
