All,
On Sunday, August 29, St. Andrew's Court celebrated its 10th anniversary. St. Andrew's Court is St. Leonard's Ministries' long-term residential facility. As many of you know, SLM assists ex-offenders with their reintroduction and integration into society. St. Andrew's court meets the needs of some SLH residents that cannot find sustainable housing income producing jobs or have other special housing community needs such as physical or emotional disabilities.
Gary Wiviott, graciously as always, agreed to BBQ low and slow some pork shoulders for pulled pork sandwiches and a bunch o' chickens. I made coleslaw and brought the cheap white buns (the preferrable way to serve pulled pork). Gary also made a delicious sauce for the pork and a few dips for those that wished. Other members of the board donated some beverages and more food. Miguel, the SLH head cook, made a "to die for" potato salad, which I saw Gary dip into more than once or twice.
Unfortunately, I had to leave before the party got started, but luckily I made it back in time to have a couple sandwiches and a chicken thigh
Delicious
For those of you who know both Gary and I, you know I hate to blow smoke up his dress...but this man has a heart as big, if not bigger, than his appetite for Thai Fried Chicken. He was up at 5:30 smoking meat and I think he even had a pretty good time at the party. I know he made a few new friends, who have tried to get his BBQ secrets from him
I understand Gary even burned a CD with a few pictures of the event and brought to Noy Frial, SAC director, on Monday. Whaddya say Gary, how's about sharing a few of the pics with LTH.
Again, my thanks to Gary along with those of the folks from SLM.
Regards,
Peter
