    Bill,

I presume you made it. It is certainly lovely.

    Thank you.

Thank you, Cathy2. Yes, I made it, and ate it! The smoked salmon and cream cheese were store-bought. Also some red onion. No tomatoes because the stores here have pulled them off the shelves due to salmonella contamination. :(

Not wormsign, but that sounds yummo.

Actually, it is a fried scallion bread, before being rolled out and fried in duck fat:

    A thing of beauty, Bill.

The text I quoted is from the David Lynch film "Dune", as your dough reminded me of the giant sand worms of Arrakis. Definitely not "yummo" ;)

this is what I use for 90% of my food shots
    Image

I tend to shoot in Manual mode and shift the focus to close-up
For some shots, I use the Digital Macro setting.
I process the images in Adobe Lightroom and then Photoshop (with PhotoKit)
to create the edges and do the sharpening / drop shadow etc....

Nice, it does a really good job on your closeup shots. I have a D50, but no macro lens, so I can't quite get the closeups I want sometimes. I wonder if a nice point and shoot would be cheaper than a nice macro lens...

You have a really good eye also, which is the most important thing in taking photos.

Do you not like the sharpening abilities of Lightroom? Or are you just more comfortable with photoshop? I use love Lightroom, but I don't find photoshop as user friendly and have not put enough time into really learning how to use it.

I use PhotoKit Sharpener (as a plug-in) for output sharpening for web. The Lightroom 2.0 (public) beta that I'm testing features the nuts and bolts from PhotoKit sharpener as a built-in feature. When I shoot RAW I use the typical three step sharpening routine, capture, creative & output. With the camera JPEGS (which have been sharpened in camera) only see some creative and then output.

If the dress in question was made of candy, I think Sparky could be persuaded to wear it briefly...as long as he could eat his way out. We would need to be sure he's fully dressed underneath, though, as past candy-eating experiences indicate that it would disappear at a frightening pace :D
