We never came up with a better explanation, but it sure gave us a lot of laughs. (And it was dangerously sexy.)

Speaking (as this thread was sometime back) of one stop shopping, I noticed that Jewel this week is giving you a free box of Cheez-Its with the purchase of a 24-pack of Bud. And thus Christmas dinner is taken care of in one trip!

Fifteen or twenty years ago I saw a sign in Door County that said "tresspassers will be violated." That certainly kept us off their land.

Oh I wish I knew about this thread before heading to TN this past weekend.

Driving through Lexington, TN, the local DQ sported the following statement.....I kid you not....

    "Wake up with an enormous"

Talked to my son about it, thinking there may be some local thing going on....he said "Nope...been like that for a few weeks now." I'm just surprised there haven't been more traffic incidents.....

Makes you wonder what's happening down in TN!!!

I'm not sure why this one amused me so much, but...

A handpainted large sign on a now long-gone taqueria at the corner of Damen and Lincoln proclaimed it was the home of "The best burritos and hat dogs in tawn". I want a hat dog! And I want to wear it in tawn!

Also saw a funny bumper sticker the other day, unrelated to food but it still made me laugh: "Jesus loves you [and then in much smaller writing] but everyone else thinks you're an #*@hole"

    Bad and wrong. Still funny.

This is why you should always have a camera at the ready. I spotted "The Potentate of Totin' Freight" on the Edens the other day. I shot this going around 45 MPH.

    Steve,

I liked this photo so much that I had to google the company. I found out that Dennis Kitchen, the cartoonist-publisher, was the one who designed the logo. It was his brother's (Jim Kitchen) company. The buttons are collector's items:

Perhaps it should be contemplated that we need to organize an LTH focused 'Burial Society (LTH BS), whose members' sole responsibility is to do exactly that.

Sort of like a Racoon Lodge ala The Honeymooners for LTH folk.

We would need a charter, and by laws, and mechanisms for governance and administration. Shouldn't be too hard, as several of our members have already demonstrated skills in this area.

Should members ante up an actuarily determined modest amount annually, so that the LTH BS spread would be at no expense to members' survivors and heirs? Food for thought.

Anyway, if there's traction I'll kick if off by stepping up to shoulder LTH BS's Atlanta based burden.

After all we never know where the festivities may occur. As it is said: Man proposes, God disposes.

    Hi,

Perhaps you are being somewhat tongue in cheek.

When my Grandmother died, my Grandfather arranged to go to a restaurant with a strong post funeral trade. It was reheated fried chicken and roast beef where rare was merely a transition. Bad food.

When my Grandfather died, my Mother and I drove around the area until I recognized an Italian restaurant I had heard favorable comments. This was pre my involvement in these types of food forums. Lemon chicken was the centerpiece, an open bar and a really nice dessert. Most of the guests were old enough to be on the regular funeral circuit, they were raving about the good food and how they must tell their children.

Really good food certainly can make a somber occasion much more bearable.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

In some cultures, Greek for example, the post funeral meal is as much a part of the ceremony as the burial itself.

stevez's post of stuff he found is really good.

When you see warnings that seem to defy common sense it is usually because someone somewhere tried that (like the chain saw stopping) and hurt themselves.

I have heard of some people suing over things like that and actually winning with the argument "No one told me NOT to do that". :o
