That just reminded me of the time Alice Cooper (sans makeup) was in line behind me at the Franklin Park White Castle.

Leaving Maggiano's on Clark St. about ten years ago, we crossed paths in the vestibule with Jerry Lewis coming in. He looked pissed-off.

Hmm, what about old-school Italian could possibly have pissed Jerry Lewis off?

I had an encounter with an entire team of Serbian basketball players at the late Simplon Orient Express - or at least Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic. Only two tables in the place were occupied, my group of two and their group of six or so. It was the middle of the NBA season and they were both with the Kings at the time, so it seemed strange that they were in Chicago since I was pretty sure they were not playing the Bulls any time soon. After a drink or two of wine, my curiosity demanded some answers.

They both looked more than a wee bit leery of me, understandably I suppose, and one of their companions jumped up to speak with me. After it was established that I was not anything more than a distraction, the friend told me they were playing the Bucks tomorrow and came down for some good, Serbian food. Vlade and Peja never spoke a word.

I swear I posted this before, but I cannot find the previous post.

Also took a shower with Ernie Banks once at the Lakeshore Racket Club, but I ain't saying any more about that. 8)

I've seen him there, too. I'm told he's been known to tend bar when things get busy.

I'm afraid I was more obtuse about another celebrity encounter there. The hostess, grinning broadly, said, "I'm going to give you the best table in the house tonight."

I was pleased because we had a great view of the open kitchen.

It wasn't till halfway through dinner we noticed that the very tanned guy at the next table was George Hamilton.

It's a good thing they don't serve beef jerky there or it would have been hard to tell the difference between the 2 of them :D

It's fun reading everyone's celebrity encounters--not surprisingly for this forum, most were at restaurants.

Over 30 years ago (yikes) my teenaged self and my mother were in London. The actor James Mason, his second wife, and her parents were seated at the next table at the Dorchester Hotel Grill. And from the sublime to the ridiculous, also years ago, my family saw Gene Shallot at a Manhattan restaurant whose name I no longer remember. He seemed to be dining with a very young woman who was not a daughter or niece.

The most random celebrity sighting for me was Planet Hollywood Hong Kong - Jean Claude Van Damme...
