    I work with a bunch of people with MD, PhD, etc. and I call them Dr. so and so, or Professor so and so. Even the ones who I knew as students. Maybe in a social situation I would call them Fred, Mary, Santhi, etc. But at work, it's a sign of respect. I don't call the folks I don't work with who have earned their MD, PhD, etc. Doctor - it's a different relationship.

    I got about halfway through the first page of this thread and got really bored with it so you'll have to forgive me...
    It’s possible this is a question with no answer.


    The answer is so easy and so obvious.
    If you want to know how to address Chef Achatz or anyone else for that matter, why don't you just ask them?
