Fans of old commercials might enjoy checking out WWMECA, broadcast channel 23 (Comcast digital channel 223, RCN channel 14 IIRC) -- almost every commercial break has one real ad and one nostalgic ad from the '50s or '60s.

As for Blommer's, if "polluting" our air with that amazing chocolate smell is wrong, I don't want them to be right. The article noted that the EPA is looking the other way on six coal-fired power plants in or around the city, and perhaps not looking the other way would be a better use of their time.

    B-z-z-z-z!

Sorry, Steve, that's incorrect, but thanks for playing.

Farfel is Danny O'Day's pal, of ventriloquist Jimmy Nelson.

However, you do get bonus points for the Paul Winchell trivia!

Brent, I would submit to you that, in fact, I had the correct answer for both the name of the dog and the tag for the commercial. The only thing I got wrong was the name of Farfel's buddy (something the OP didn't even ask about). I will accept your apology in public in the form of a Nestle's Classic Milk Chocolate Bar.

P.S. None of that Hershey's crap, either.

OK, guys, in the interests of full disclosure, I worked for Nestle in a previous incarnation and saw the reel of all the historic Quik commercials one afternoon. However, that was 27 years ago, and so I think this bit of trivia qualifies as "from the actual vault".

stevez and Cathy2 : Indeed, there was a musical signature played by a trombone. But I am talking about a sound effect that occurred at the VERY END, after the trombone bit.

Do you mean the clapboard sound of Farfel's mouth slamming shut? If not, I give up.

May we have a ruling from the judges, please?

Steve, our apologies, you indeed did answer the two requisite questions, and we've decided to reward you with not one Nestles bar, but a WHOLE BOX!

(And I think you're right about the smack of Farfel's mouth.)

    Hi,

It is really a pleasure to see two people settle differences of opinion so amicably.

    [Drumroll, followed by triumphant trumpets]
WE HAVE A WINNER, FOLKS! The "clapboard sound of Farfel's mouth slamming shut" is the SOUND EFFECT we were looking for!
    CONGRATULATIONS, STEVEZ!

(And what self-respecting Foley Artist does not have the sound of Farfel's jaws in his or her repertoire?)
