I go to threads all the time, and I don't think threads should be sucking like this. I mean I am the reader, and I should be able to read threads that don't suck. I mean why be in the thread business, if you aren't going to try and please the reader? This thread might be getting posts left and right now, but if it keeps on sucking, mark my words, no one will go back and post to this thread. I only went to this thread because of the information someone posted online about how people should check it out, and if this thread is going to continue to suck like this I will not be returning. I mean it.

I guess I liked some of the posts, but threads just shouldn't suck. That's a dealbreaker for me. Where does it get the nerve? Just because this thread wants to suck I have to deal with it?

This thread is a minimalist Chicago Style thread. However some may argue this thread is too cheap to have a topic. Then again tomato wedges are usually terrible out of season anyways.

Unfortunately I have to take back this statement. I was glad to find this thread, and really hoped it would be "my spot". The onslought of posts and views have gone to this threads head. The snarkiness was at an all time low my last visit, so I asked to talk to the thread itself for an explanation. It wouldn't even speak to me, and instead suggested I don't come back if I don't care for the content! I was pretty appalled that in this economy a thread would have such nerve to talk a loyal visitor that way, even with it's recent popularity. I guess we just have different views on customer service.

This thread does in fact suck, and I for one won't be back anytime soon,

    Jeff

I realize that the LTHForum Powers That Be have all determined that This Thread Sucks, which has made me hesitate from posting. But I thought it would be illuminative for others who might be intimidated into not posting about this threads suckness.

It's too bad that some influential members of LTH have been been so protective of their chosen threads, and I even think that a few posters might in fact know personally the suckness of the thread, and there might be some personal bias. It might be sacrilege to say so here, but I believe This Thread Is Great.

While I realize this is on par with saying that Honey 1 blows or that Sarah Stegner doesn't know her sous vide from shinola, I feel it should be said and that maybe my saying it would allow other posters to feel free to share their experiences as well.

I don't even read this thread anymore, because it isn't like all the other threads around here. I don't get it, there are 500 other big brand name threads right near this thread, and this one doesn't offer exactly what they do. This thread does things its "own way". Pathetic.

Uh, sorry to break it to you LTH, but this Thread's typeface and punctuation is, at best, mediocre. I really don't know what all the excitement is about. I had some friends in from Bruges (they know sarcastic self-reflective discussion site Threads) and I was excited to introduce them to what people on LTH had hyped as Chicago's "best" example of the genre. Boy was I embarrassed. Thanks a lot, LTH. They were like, you drove us all to a strip mall in the suburbs for this?

I know that the previous hundred or so posts in This Thread don't have anything to do with This Thread's typeface or punctuation. However, the author(s) of This Thread have decided to offer those items. I really think if a Thread is going to include typeface and punctuation as part of its oeuvre, it should take those aspects very, very seriously or why even try. Please, do me a favor: get on a plane to Hong Kong or Brooklyn (I grew up in both, at the same time -- long story) and learn about real typesetting, then take another look at This Thread. OK, are you back? See?

(I actually think the typesetting of This Thread might be automated. :!: Setting aside the cheap, generic feel of the This Thread's font, the spacing doesn't have the artisanal quality that I associate with decent Linotype.)

Toodles. This will be my last post on This Thread. Unless I have to come back and defend myself or explain things.

The Great Neighborhood Threads suck. I'm from New York and I'm hungry. I tried 3 of your so-called "GNTs," did not order items that you recommended I order in the Thread (who has time for reading?), and left thinking that there's no good restaurants in Chicago, and all you people suck, like this Thread, because you compiled the GNTs, which means that all Chicagoans, by extension, are idiots who only eat at, like, Steak and Shake. (Shake Shack rules, BTW!)

Oh, and please read my blog, which is about how there is no good food in Chicago.

People are still frequenting this thread? HA! It's so passé! Last Friday called, and it wants its barely-sucky thread back, people.

I've been reading this hot new underground thread that sucks way, way more than this one. I'd tell you guys about it, but it's very exclusive. So take my word for it, when it comes to suckage, this thread is nothing compared to the underground thread that I'm hip to.

you too! we visited the same thread and someone in my party is allergic to commas someone else doesn't put two spaces in between each period and the next sentence and i'm allergic to the shift key. we told the thread this and the thread told us our meal would be really hard to read and result in indigestion or at least cause our eye prescription to worsen. we demanded that the thread give us what we asked for and when the thread gave us our meal it was terrible we complained. the thread cannot cook and we will never go there again.

You know I went to this thread 3 times this week, and I agree. This is an awesome thread. The points are subtle yet well made, with just the right amount of sarcasm. The writers take the time to provide fresh insights while pulling themes from other threads, offering a new perspective on threads with a comfortable feel.

Yes, I am aware that this thread doesn't have an actual topic. But this thread has a right to be the thread the OP intended. Maybe the OP would like to spend time with his family, and doesn't have time to develop a topic. Perhaps he is focusing so much on the inteligent review of threads in general to spend time pumping out banal information for the masses. What gives us the right to say this thread has to be like all the other threads on LTH, with culinary discussion, pictures of food, and worthwhile information? This thread is exactly what it sets out to be, and it is doing it with thought, care, and a full knowledge of what it takes to make an interesting and thought provoking thread.

So I say this thread does exactly what it sets out to do, while entertaining some and aggrivating others. It is my favorite thread, and obviously a big favorite of the board. If you find yourself unable to enjoy this thread please take your reading elswhere. There will be more room for my posts here!
