feeding those in need

I know there are many wonderful organizations that are feeding the poor this holiday season, but just in case you want to share but don't know where to send your contributions, here are three reputable and effective organizations I support that focus on feeding folks.

Food for the Poor focuses primarily on Central and South America and the Caribbean. They also have a great "Christmas catalog," where you can pick a specific gift to buy, such as a goat or a fruit tree for a family.

Food for the Hungry is another excellent organization that feeds people worldwide, and they are often the first people on site after a disaster.

Here in Chicago, Olive Branch Mission offers hot meals for the holidays and through the winter months to the homeless.

Just a thought, during this season of abundance. You may want to suggest other ways to share, but it is a good time to remember those for whom food conversation generally consists of "did you eat today?"
