Yom Kippur: The world is your restaurant oyster on 9/21

The Jewish High Holy Day this year begins next Friday evening, which to many LTHers can mean only one thing--you can just about be assured of getting an 8:00 pm table anywhere your heart desires. This is the one night of the year when most Jews begin a 24-hour fast and/or are in temple, clearing the way for non-tribespeople to waltz their way in to the city's toughest reservation spots.

It's much like the nights before and after Valentine's Day, two restaurant evenings when you can call the shots.

Cool: being happy that San Francisco is quieter, less obnoxious, and more available during Burning Man.

Wha?: being happy that you can dine out with fewer patrons around during Rosh Hashanah. I'm not quite comfortable with this one.
