The South Koreans and Russians have developed a kimchi suitable for South Korea's first astronaut to take with him:

It's called "Starship Kimchi", no lie!

I love kimchi, but the thought of kimchi in space immediately brought to mind the grade-school witticism I haven't thought of in 40+ years: "Jeez, that's worse than a fart in a space suit."
I'm sure the Koreans know best, but kimchi in space sounds like a potentially mission-critical error in judgment.

Space smells of steak, says NASA
OUTER space smells of fried steak, scientists revealed yesterday. The universe also has an aroma of hot metal and motorbike welding, Nasa experts said.

Astronauts reported the bizarre scents on their suits when they returned from space walks.

    ...

He said: “When astronauts were de-suiting and taking off helmets, they all reported quite particular odours.
    ...

I never thought of space having any odor.

If space is a vacumn and has no air, can there really be an odor? If a tree falls in the forest and no one is....

    Steve,

I'm waiting for someone to be disappointed it does not smell of chicken.

Starship Kimchi is a hell of a name for a 70's Glam Rock Band, though.
