Confirming a group reservation at Lao Sze Chuan

For those that have planned or looked into banquet-type events in Chinatown 'afore (Bridgestone event, Christmas Eve, etc.):

Do you have a preferred contact for changing / confirming an advance reservation, and a recommended window of time for calling and getting someone who speaks sufficiently nuanced English? I was able to make an initial reservation with Tony for the upstairs room, but he has then been out of town. I've been trying to change the size and time, calling at many different times of day and asking for a manager or events supervisor, but haven't gotten anyone that understood my goals.

I will try to stop by in person, and/or have a Mandarin-speaking friend call (I read a little but can't speak), but will likely still need the ability to confirm or update on the fly closer to the event date, and am sure your insights and suggestions will help me out even at this very familiar place. Many thanks in advance.

When my girlfriend and I wanted to take some winemakers there last Saturday night, I just called up at 6ish and asked for a table of 12 for 7:30 and the lady said "okay, what's your name?" and that was it. We did get one of the big rounds in the upstairs back room, complete with kids playing "air hockey" on the glass coffee table by the big couch (family bday dinner at other table), but I'm not sure if by large group you are referring to a multi-table reservation...that's just my experience.

On a side note, we started at Avec at 4:30, then dinner #2 at LSC at 7:45, then a THIRD dinner at Weiner's Circle at midnight...these French and Italian winemakers were not prepared for the "chocolate shake" dessert but their expressions were priceless!

My party is 40+ next Sunday, so we hypothetically have the whole upstairs reserved, but it's a little scary not to be able to confirm with everyone who answers the phone. I did get through yesterday and have what I think is a reasonable certainty they've written it down somewhere.

You can always pile on the big sectional couch in the back and watch the big-screen TV while eating the food take-out style! Good luck!
