WTF Does That Sign Signify(Regina, Boston)?
At Pizzeria Regina in Boston last weekend, my PR exec daughter (with an eye for this kind of thing) spotted some odd signs on the wall:
What exactly is being recognized here that is anything a restaurant would want to announce to patrons? That you can make more money by extracting greater sums from their billfolds? That you can cut labor costs and perhaps service, food costs and perhaps quality, to increase profitability? These are awards given to the restaurant by restaurant management -- so really, who cares? Better to put pictures of Frank on the wall.
Most odd.
A better sign was outside, old-timey and homey:
Inside, I enjoyed a super-salty anchovy and caper pizza, strewn with basil; it was called a Napoletana Pizza; it was much breadier than anything you’d probably find in Napoli, though it went well with a pitcher.
