    One's I usually visit:

Recently, I've been looking at Just Hungry and Just Bento for lunch ideas; they're sister sites mostly dedicated to Japanese cooking.

You can try mine. He he. :)) http://hungrynchicago.blogspot.com. It's not really as much a food blog as a restaurant review blog, though.

    I like Dmnkly's http://www.skilletdoux.com/.

Lately i've been reading this pretty frequently:

    http://www.barefootkitchenwitch.com/the ... chen_witc/

She's mostly a baker -- but it's the general tone of the blog I love.

Plus...i love seeing pictures of her kids and her kitties. Call me a sap --- I can take it.

I also love smitten kitchen, ruhlman, skilletdoux, etc.

In addition to a couple of the ones above, I read the following, infrequently-updated blogs:

    • Anthony Bourdain's Travel Channel Blog - typically posts when there's a new episode that's wrapped
    • French Laundry at Home - great technique notes and photos of the French Laundry Cookbook, but she's wrapping it up. Good news, though, the Alinia cookbook, and Keller's Under Pressure are next on her list.
    • News for Curious Cooks - Harold McGee, author of the seminal On Food & Cooking: The Science & Lore of the Kitchen (I'm still looking for a cheap copy, by the way) posts infrequently, mostly links to his NY Times articles

    Also
    http://www.hungrymag.com/

    And of course:

I also like http://www.cupcakeblog.com/but she is no longer blogging. The blog will remain up, however, until there is no longer any interest.

I definitely enjoy Chocolate & Zucchini, Smitten Kitchen and Orangette (mentioned above.) I also really like:
Hunter Angler Gardner Cook (http://www.honest-food.net/blog1/) - This guy, well, hunts, fishes, gardens and is a great cook. An interesting read.
The Paupered Chef (http://www.thepauperedchef.com/) - If nothing else, these guys show that you should just jump in and try something, even if you're not sure how it will turn out.
Very Good Taste (http://www.verygoodtaste.co.uk/) - This is where the Omivore's Hundred originated
101 Cookbooks (http://www.101cookbooks.com/) - This one is rather more on the whole foods/healthy/granola end of the spectrum, but the recipes are good.

"The Squirrel" was just posted on Gapers yesterday:

    http://open.salon.com/user_blog.php?uid=1846

And for the life of me, I feel like I'm so close to figuring out what restaurant this is, but I just can't get it. I have a hunch it's somewhere in Lincoln Square.

Any help? Although part of me doesn't want to know.

I'm curious, just how DO you subscribe to Ruhlman's blog? I'm a bit new to RSS feeds. When I go to the blog page and click on the link "Subscribe to my feed," it opens a window concerning a file called "index.rdf" and asks if I want to find a file to open this with or save it. Neither of these options leads anywhere useful that I can see. This is the first RSS feed I've tried to subscribe to where this has happened.
