Well, he includes Hot Doug's, so that suggests the other places he mentioned might be worthwhile. ;-)

Oklahoma Joes? Best BBQ in Kansas City, let alone the world? I question this man's taste. It's good but i don't recall being blown away by revelatory flavors/quality. Having not tried all of the bbq in the world, I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable telling another person they must try it before they die.

Judging his picks based on this selection, I probably won't be booking a flight to Singapore to try Sin Haut Eating House any time soon.

Great, now the Hot Doug's line will be even longer. And full of death-row inmates and the terminally ill. :x

I read lists like this and wonder how they actually limited the results. "Best Restaurants I Can Think of Off the Top of My Head"? Or maybe "Favorite Places Whose Name I Don't Mind Giving Out to Millions of People"? Or how about "Good Places That the Sort of Guy Who Reads 'Men's Health' Would Actually Consider Going To, Plus Two Others to Make It Look Exotic"?

Or best restaurants in New York and Spain?

I don't have wide enough global eating to feel I could remotely make a credible list, but surely if I did, it would involve having the specialties of numerous spots around the world, in a way that really seemed to speak of those cultures-- crayfish in Louisiana, pasta in Tuscany, a cheeseburger at Jim's Darn Good Hamburgers in Cow Platte, Oklahoma on Friday night before the high school football game against Monckley-- before it would involve eating a third of my list in New York City.

Uhhh, folks, Oklahoma Joe's IS the best bbq in KC, and thus the world. Although this is an enthymeme, the underlying syllogism is valid, and, since the premises are true, the conclusion is sound. Bourdain gets an "A" from this Kansas City logic professor...

PS. Ain't bbq controversial on the personal-taste level? I mean, I don't note anyone disputing Bourdain's choice of Salumi, eh?! :)
Sooo, you like wine and are looking for something good to read? Maybe *this* will do the trick! :)
