Did anyone else catch the foodie bashing in RedEye and the Sun-Times this week?

Got to say, none of the "types" listed in the sidebar that "cruelly skewered" food fans corresponds to anyone that I know. Just straw men.

Concerning the Achatz comment about people getting angry or teary when they don't get what others have at other tables in his place, I must admit, when we went to Alinea and got the full-boat tour I was a little disappointed that a table next to ours that ordered the smaller menu got the bacon-on-a-trapeze and we didn't. I didn't weep or rage, of course, but you're right: when you pay the price, you want the works, and if you don't get it, you feel like you missed something. Stupid, maybe, but human nature.

I think I know or have encountered a few people who pull a trait or two from each of the "types" listed on the "sidebar" piece. I wonder what they would be labeled as? :D

I personally found the "severing all ties with vegetarians, and vegan friends" kind of humerous though. I guess I could be guilty of that on a much broader scale, I dont think I have ever been friends with a vegan or vegetarian(not by choice thats for sure, , but I just dont think I run into many at the places I eat, with the folks I hang out with, or doing bbq).

That's some hard-hitting journalism from the Red Eye there :P

On the plus side, at least I fit firmly into the "Food Enthusiast" category, which is where I aspire to remain (except for the occasional foray into the more "hardcore" categories, I should add).
