The picture I took got lost in a computer crash, so here's my best description: it's essentially a long stainless steel cupboard about waist high and a fore-arm in depth. The one I saw was about 12 feet long but I imagine they come in various sizes. There were slide tracks for doors but in this case there were no doors.

Is this a plate cupboard by chance? And if so, where can I buy one? Used is as good as new to me.

I saw it at an "Antiques store" and they wanted $900 but I've got a feeling I can do better elsewhere. It would double the storage and counter space in my kitchen so I'd love to track one down.

    Thanks!

It sounds like an open-front work station. They come with or without a backsplash, and with or without a shelf in the storage area.

Did it look anything like this?

This site seems to sell just about every variation...they're also one of the only ones I could find that have pics of each variation of work table, and publish their prices (as opposed to "call for a quote").
