FYI - Alinea is taking reservations for its opening in May 2005. Here's a link with some more information: Alinea Announcement at eG

For the record: I've already sent an email requesting reservations for myself and Mrs. JiLS. I think a group dinner similar to the Moto Marathon would be in order, but would offer that (1) I'm willing to be a test subject or (2) we could all just take a flyer and try to set up a private dinner. But given the international hype Alinea has been receiving for the past 8 months (which can only be anticipated to accelerate as opening day nears), I have a feeling we'd better act quickly if we want that to happen in May rather than, say, next January.

After our Moto adventure, would there be any interest in an LTH Alinea adventure? I'm not sure that it would be possible to squeeze in a big party the first few weeks, but perhaps soon there after.

I just made a reservation for Wednesday, May 4 -- the opening night. Cancellation policy is 48 hours' notice, so if there are takers for GAF's proposed group dinner, I may cancel and join that group, instead.

NOTE: I also learned, by paying close attention to the reservationist's pronunciation, that it is "Ah-LIN-ea", not "ah-li-NE-a" as I had thought. Just for what that may be worth to all and sundry.

I have reservation for the 21st of May - picking the weekend before my birthday for a little splurge. I find the process of getting this reservation amusingly elaborate ... begin watching the restaurant develop online at eGullet in August 2004, respond to invitation to call and leave a message expressing interest in eventually eating their, receive an email inviting me to respond via email indicating when I would like to receive a call to confirm a reservation, receive a call confirming a reservation nearly four months from now. The number and variety of interactions has already been mind boggling. With all the thought given to designing the restaurant experience from beginning to end, they may have neglected the hyped-opening reservation process.

Then again, it certainly is a-linear. Almost labyrinthine or whimsically Kafkaesque. I feel like I need to use as many modes of transportation as possible when ariving there ... kayak down the lake shore, horse and carriage from the Gold Coast ... do you think they'd check my in-line skates at the door?
