For those of you using one do you have any favorite apps that you can rave about in regards to any and all things food related?

epicurious has a very handy version of their site, with recipe finder, for iphone. I use it often - it's easier to have the ipod touch in the kitchen than the computer, and it saves me from printing the darn things out.

    I use

    Epicurious
    All Recipes
    OpenTable
    GrubHub
    Seafood Watch
    Urbanspoon
    Yelp

I believe they're all free apps.

KCRW has a Good Food app for 99 cents, but I just download their podcast.

I've been using Nutrition Menu to track everything that goes into my stomach everyday mainly to monitor my sodium intake but it's the best app for calorie tracking.

    http://www.shroomies.com/nutrition_menu/

    here's what the developers say

    "
Advance your diet by having nutritional information for over 92,000 food items right at your fingertips! Whether you go out to eat or cook at home, Nutrition Menu takes the guesswork out of choosing healthy meals and even includes a calculator to compute your Food Score. Have the peace of mind knowing that your meal fits within your dietary allowance. You can then track from meal to meal insuring a higher weight loss by keeping a journal of what you have consumed. Whether you are counting carbs, watching calories, or have diabetes, Nutrition Menu makes it easy for anyone who needs to track what they eat."

I like Flip N Drink, an App that contains many of Gary Regan's cocktails.

I am a huge fan of The Joy of Mixology, and this app is like a portable version. It also lets you search for recipes by ingredient, which is handy and not particularly easy to do with the actual book.

Just so people know Menupages isn't compatible with a first generation iPod Touch. I tried downloading it and it won't load so I checked the iTunes system requirements..and yup it's only for iPhone, and 2nd and 3rd generation Touch.

I wonder if it's as easy as just flicking a switch for the admins of this phpBB forum to make it iphone/itouch available?

Just for yucks on my iPod Touch I installed Tapatalk.

LTHforum is on Tapatalk already!!! Who knew?

I only installed the free read-only version but I'm seeing the forum form the app. It's WAY easier than reading it using a web browser on the Touch.

Close to that easy. The Tapatalk plugin is now installed, and now when people come to the site using mobile browsers for which there is a Tapatalk app, they should get a modest pop-up notifiying them about the installation (which is supposed to only show up once.)

When I first set things up, I chose not to list LTH Forum in the public directory because I wanted some time to test it out. Now I can't find anyplace to change that choice, so if you are using the Tapatalk client on your iPhone/Android/Nokia/etc, you have to search for "lthforum.com"

This looks like a very handy tool for reading the site on a mobile. If you want to post, you have to buy the paid app, but read-only is free.

I think the Tapatalk + Droid is a very weak combination. Using the phone's built-in browser provides a much easier login, use of LTHForum's actual interface and a full-functioned experience -- reading and posting. I honestly don't see any advantage to using Tapatalk with LTH and actually consider it a significant disadvantage, especially when you consider the fact that you have to pay for the fully functional version.

the advantage using a iPod or an iPhone is getting to, logging in, finding a post, then more posts then making a post are just a few taps on the device. Doing the same thing using Safari the web browser on an iPhone/iPod means lots more having to interact with the device to do the same things.

In general for my iPod Touch, if there's an app I can use to do some task I might use a web browser for the app will almost always be a more enjoyable experience with less labor.

    I've never used a Droid so I can't compare.

I have a video camera, maybe I should do a quick video and post it to youtube to show LTH forum being used in the Touch.

    Oh..let me add one.

I'm using Remember the Milk. It's a task manager for iPhone/Touch.

A cool way I'm using it, is when I'm on a real computer, or the wife is on one, we email our RTM account and add items to the grocery list. I can also tap in grocery items on the mobile device too.

The practical use is I carry the iPod Touch all day, and when the wife is at work and at 1pm just then remembers we need hoisin sauce, she types a quick simple email with "hoisin sauce" to the special email address and my RTM app on the Touch adds it to the running list without my having to do anything on the Touch. I get to the market, open the app and "hoisin sauce" is on my list.

It's kinda like while being 15 miles away she reached into my shirt pocket and added to the grocery note without my knowing it happened.

I like that. lol. I just did a free online subscription to Saveur via Zinio, then downloaded the Zinio app to my iPhone. I now have the April '10 issue on the phone. Haven't used Zinio yet so I can't speak to how well it works, but maybe this will help me cut down on the ever-growing magazine collection, lol.

just read about this new tool- based on an image of Food, possibly one of our favorite subjects here....
and allowing others to locate where that Food can be spotted at!

    http://mashable.com/2010/06/29/foodspotting/
and it made me think of an lthforum App-
and how unique (and practical) that would be?

    Any Developers out there?

I just added Sushipedia and was impressed with the depth of knowledge. It's free.

Foodspotting is pretty cool as well; people snap pictures of what they're eating and the location function your iphone pulls in whatever foods you're closest to. You can also jump to a different city... It's also free.
