    Most probably saw this, but for those who didn't:

    It's more intriguing than informative. I'm dying to know what makes Laura so difficult.

    This might give you some idea of Laura's difficult nature.

    The short version: the Bush's, particularly Laura, insisted " ... that he give up all French recipes and cooking techniques, and create an elaborate inaugural menu paying tribute to the brand names of a dozen top Bush campaign and GOP donors."

    The beauty here is the image of the menu from the inaugural dinners during which Scheib pulled off some brave culinary innovations such as brining a Pilgrim's Pride turkey in Coca Cola and stuffing it with Dunkin Donuts.

    You know, I'm sure it tasted halfway decent (although starting with mediocre ingredients never leads to great results). But seriously. That whole thing sounds awful.

    Isn't marinating meat in Coca Cola an old Southern tradition? I know when I made country ham for Easter last year, I soaked it in a Cava, but my mother, an excellent old Southern cook (i.e. excellentl cook using the ways of the old South - sorry Mom), suggested I could have used Coca-Cola instead, and it might have been more traditional.

    Yeah, the coca cola brine wasn't as weird to me as the doughnut stuffing.

    Yeah, it is satire.. but it's so believable.

    Here's an article with a description of the inaugural feast.

    Rehearsal to Set Stage For Week of Grand Events

    Phillips said the dinners are intimate -- in inaugural terms -- with about 600 guests at each venue. The menu at each dinner will be the same. It will begin with a salad of lobster medallions with orange and grapefruit and dressed with citrus vinaigrette. Next, filet of beef tenderloin with asparagus, baby carrots and potato au gratin will be served. Dessert will be Georgia peach crumble, served warm, with vanilla ice cream.
