Found an interesting quote in Bourdain's newest, Medium Raw. I've noticed in the past that his references frequently have real referents—does this place?

Speaking about how Jonathan Gold's metier—finding and enjoying the authentic—might serve as a new model for cool, Bourdain remarks:

For a young man with indie aspirations and a modest disposable income, there is now a certain cachet involved in hunting down a shoebox-size Uiger noodle shop in the cellar of a Chinese mall in Flushing. p. 72

I suspect this is a real place. I also suspect that some of us LTHers might know the place. Do YOU? 8)

Sounds like a place he visited on the No Reservations - NY Outer Boroughs show last year.

And based upon Geo being the last poster in this thread, I suspect he knows the place of which AB speaks. But I'd say forget the cachet . . . it's all about amazing food. Outside of a couple of meals at Alinea, I can't think of a better dining day I've had then the day I spent in Flushing eating Chinese food.
