    What's the Word? :)

Did a google for LTH and this URL. Seems like there's no references here yet so here's today's interesting and informative website:

Hmmm, wonder what's worse, wine that turns you into a bum or becoming a Girl Drink Drunk?
Objects in mirror appear to be losing.

Whatever happened to Cold Duck? I remember it being on sale at Walgreen's back in the day for $2.99 a bottle.

IIRC, one of the fortified wine companies did some "street marketing" by leaving empties in the gutters of rough neighborhoods to spur interest in their new product.

Used to drink a lot of this stuff as a lad. So-called "bum wine" was often all that was available at the urban Florida gas station convenience stores willing to sell booze to underaged kids (at a time when "legal" was still 18).

My 2 favorite bottlings were Blackjack 21, a fortified reddish-brown from Jacksonville made from orange rinds and other citrus processing remnants, and Mister Dude 44, a local homage to the more upscale MD 20/20. Both were barely potable, but each had spectacular graphics -- the former featuring playing cards and dice, the latter a "Huggy Bear"-type character with bellbottoms, putting his best foot forward in the R. Crumb/Keep On Trucking style. Something makes me think my parents tossed the bottle collection long, long ago.

Cold Duck was for the wealthy bums. We used to go with Boone's Farm.
