LTH: Thought I would share a really neat experience with the Zac Brown Band.
Mrs. Davooda and I became fans of the band over the past year and I planned a surprise anniversary trip to their show on Labor Day at Red Rocks. The culinary angle comes in when I find out the band offers "Eat & Greet" opportunities at select shows. About 150 fan club members can buy tickets to a one-hour pre-show gourmet dinner with the band members. Chef Rusty cooks in a semi-truck sized rolling kitchen and he slings some excellent grub. I got luck enough to score a pair of tickets online - they sold out in like two minutes.
Not only do you get to meet and talk with the band members, which is cool, but they serve you dinner! Pork tenderloin medallions in a creamy sauce of Zac's creation, a healthy slice of marinated beef tenderloin, salads and sides with veggies that are sourced locally and a dessert that I could have eaten a whole plate of. Wash it down with gratis Landshark tallboys and Jack Daniels on the rocks (two sponsors) and you are ready to get "knee deep in the water somewhere"
The band bills this as a way for them to connect with fans on a more leisurely and personal level - at the dinner table. No autographs or photos, which I gotta say was nice. It was all about the food and the connection.
Cheers,
Davooda
