Now that the "Pillory Paula Deen" party seems to have died down, let's examine the change in (video) programming for another lovably zaftig gastronome: Adam Richman.
Adam now features everyday citizens attempting his eating challenges on "Man Versus Food Nation." Cherubic Adam cheers on attention-starved viewers who themselves gorge on 72-oz. steaks in front of the camera, but I think the reason he's sharing the spotlight is this: his doctors TOLD him to stop.
This will never be mentioned in the media of course, and now Adam turns up his cheery personality on such shows as "Amazing Eats" and even "Iron Chef." Personally, I found his eating "challenges" enough to trigger an eating disorder. Only once did he actually vomit (nearly) on camera, when his face turned a lovely shade of aqua and he dashed from the camera. He has surely bazooka-barfed more than once, the video of said blessed event only to be left on the cutting-room floor.
Any foolish enough to mimic Adam's gorging behaviour can only blame him (or her?) self for suffering the consequences, but I think it interesting that Adam curtailed this bingeing before suffering a health crisis. At least publicly, anyway.
For other celebrity chefs to speculate on Adam's change in programming would perhaps be rude. Or maybe they're just busy skewering Paula Deen.
