Now that the "Pillory Paula Deen" party seems to have died down, let's examine the change in (video) programming for another lovably zaftig gastronome: Adam Richman.

Adam now features everyday citizens attempting his eating challenges on "Man Versus Food Nation." Cherubic Adam cheers on attention-starved viewers who themselves gorge on 72-oz. steaks in front of the camera, but I think the reason he's sharing the spotlight is this: his doctors TOLD him to stop.

This will never be mentioned in the media of course, and now Adam turns up his cheery personality on such shows as "Amazing Eats" and even "Iron Chef." Personally, I found his eating "challenges" enough to trigger an eating disorder. Only once did he actually vomit (nearly) on camera, when his face turned a lovely shade of aqua and he dashed from the camera. He has surely bazooka-barfed more than once, the video of said blessed event only to be left on the cutting-room floor.

Any foolish enough to mimic Adam's gorging behaviour can only blame him (or her?) self for suffering the consequences, but I think it interesting that Adam curtailed this bingeing before suffering a health crisis. At least publicly, anyway.

For other celebrity chefs to speculate on Adam's change in programming would perhaps be rude. Or maybe they're just busy skewering Paula Deen.

Kind of ironic rhat your handle (fresser) is a German word meaning "eater", with a secondary meaning of "overeater".

I've cut back significantly, Little500. I used to be called "UberFresser." Zaftig, I am not. :D

It seems as the women chefs or personalities get poked more fun of and criticized than the men. I am not sure why. I find A R disgusting to watch. I can not even imagine the harm he is doing to his body. And I am big and overweight too so I am no skinny minny criticizing. Although I will say AR is not advocating anyone eating what he does in the quantities he is doing it. Paula Deen is providing recipes and techniques for people and there is a greater chance they will try to do what she is showing on her show than anything AR is doing.

Hi- Adam Richman was just mentioned in People magazine this week. He has not participated in Man Vs. Food for a while and he now has another program on Travel channel the name of which escapes me. He should be congratulated though, because as mentioned in People magazine, he recently lost 6o pounds. He has been working out a lot more lately too. They had a picture of him in the magazine, and he looks hot. He started on a diet back in February. In the interview he says that he was not forced to lose the weight, but he just got tired of looking at his body in the mirror, and decided to lose some weight. He said his cholesterol was in the normal range before he lost the weight.

Now he says that when he has pizza, he limits it to one slice, and he does not keep ice cream and peanut butter in the house, because he loves that combination and it is just too tempting to have them in the house. Hope this helps, Nancy
