Last week (April 4) they broke ground on the new shopping center that will be anchored by Whole Foods at Canal/Roosevelt (behind White Palace). I'm wondering how this development will affect the Maxwell vendors that currently set up shop between Roosevelt and Taylor as I believe the primary access to this center will be from Canal. There's also a future development that will have Taylor St. being extended east across the railyard/river to connect with Clark St. Knowing that City Hall hasn't exhibited any enthusiasm for Maxwell St., based upon past actions, I'm kind of wondering how this will play out.

    Kman,

Well, resilence is certainly one of the key factors in the continued existence of the market. If the Maxwell Street Market can survive moving away from Maxwell Street, I suppose it can survive moving away from Canal street.

I honestly was not aware of this new development, though; thanks for the information.
