Liberty Science Center sent out this announcement this week:

...snip...We are deeply appreciative of your individual and collective participation, creative input and enthusiasm for Cooking: The Exhibition during its formative stages of development. As many of you are aware, securing funding to complete work on this exhibition has been challenging. Liberty Science Center has consequently suspended work on the development of the Cooking exhibition, including both permanent and traveling versions.

Please be advised that the exhibition chefs website (http://cookingexhibitchefs.ning.com/) will officially close on June 30, 2012, and the website and project files will be archived.
    ...snip...

Darn. I was looking forward to seeing how LSC treated this topic.

    Hi,

    I feel their funding pain.

The Atlanta (Georgia) History Museum was supposed to have a major exhibit on BBQ this year. It didn't receive the funding hoped for, too. It has been postponed for at least two years.

McLean County's "Come and Get It" exhibit on their foodways from 1830-2008 was open for two years longer than expected. This was due to funding issues for the subsequent exhibit. It finally closed in January, though this delay allowed me to organize a tour there.

Hull-House is having a culinary related exhibit opening in November.

    Regards,
