Maybe it's been around for a while, but I just discovered it, and what an incredible tool this will be for ordering food among those who don't speak English...and then understanding what they say back to me. It's available for Spanish, French and German, but also Cantonese, Mandarin, etc. It's incredible. It's 99 cents. It's just like Star Trek.

I've never used it in that practical of a situation, but it's a nice thing to have for on-the-go research, certainly. Here's a (rapidly dating) demo of the live "conversation" feature:

Beats the iPad winelist at a certain steakhouse, claro.

It's also going to be an awesome study aid.

I've found that clear enunciation is a must (no surprise at all, but good to remember).

Glad you like it, Geo. I wasn't exactly sure when it came out (I believe a few months ago), so I was a little hesitant to say anything, fearing it was old news I was just getting around to knowing about.

Have you downloaded Starguide yet? Also amazing: point to portion of firmament and app gives you name of constellation, acension, declination. Helps when you can't quite make out all the stars. Last week in Seattle, where things are a little clearer at night, it was awesome to be able to locate constellations other than the Big Dipper.
