Suburban Detroit-based upscale grocer Plum Market Corp. has plans to open a store in Old Town, ratcheting up the battle for shoppers on the Near North Side.

I believe the neighbors here thought this spot was going to be a Trader Joe's. As someone posted in the comments to this article -

Plum faces well-established competitors such as the huge Whole Foods Market Inc. store at 1550 N. Kingsbury St., about 1½ miles away, and the Treasure Island at 1639 N. Wells St.

    Jewel 0.1 miles away 1210 N Clark
Treasure Island 0.2 miles away 72 W Elm St.
    Dominick's 0.3 miles away 424 W Division
Potash Market 0.4 miles away 1525 N Clark
Treasure Island 0.5 miles away 1639 N Wells
Potash Brothers 0.5 miles away 875 N State
Goddess and Grocer 0.5 miles away 25 E Delaware
Whole Foods Market 0.7 miles away 30 W Huron
Trader Joes 0.9 miles away 44 E Ontario

Wondering if anyone has been to a Plum Market in Michigan and what might set it apart from the above markets?

I've been to a couple of Plum markets in MI. My parents were huge fans before they moved away...they didn't usually buy anything (too expensive for their tastes), but they enjoyed looking at stuff and sampling things :)

I thought it was pretty Whole Foods-like.
