With less than a month to go until my wife and I celebrate our first anniversary, I wanted to know peoples memories of their own anniversary's. Not just the first one, but the best dinners, the worst dinners, at home, or served at a 4-star...

I still haven't decided what/where to go yet.

We had our first anniversary dinner at Ambria. We both have fond memories of that meal, and have gone back on our anniversary serveral times since. There are many newer "of the moment" type places, but Ambria remains a solid winner in both the food and romance departments.

Well, we've eaten at Trio, we've eaten at Spring, once we ate at Dodin-Bouffant in Paris, but if there's one that stands out, I think it has to Bag-O-Burger in Kalispell, Montana, followed by a screening of Twister at the only movie theater in town. And boy were we glad that that was a Thursday and something else opened on Friday, because as gorgeous as that place is to tromp around during the day, the only reason they don't roll up the sidewalks at 6 pm is because they'd have to install some first.

For our recent 20th, we took a day off from work. Breakfast at Tre Kroner, movie in the afternoon, workout and then dinner at Tru. I wouldn't so much suggest these places or these activities (you need to find what the two of you like), but spending a entire day with one's wife, just having fun in Chicago, with the perfect excuse to ignore all practical considerations, is highly recommended.

On our first anniversary, I surprised the Mrs. (PBandFluff) with a trip to NYC....Had an amazing, and rather expensive dinner at Charlie Palmer's Aureole. Gret service, great table and great food.

    update:

Had an enjoyable, pretty well-cooked, peaceful meal at Meritage this past Monday for our 1st anniversary dinner.
